7 events at this year’s Lakes Festival you don’t want to missPublished on 08 Oct 2019
The Lakes Festival is back – and here’s your first taste of the party
Clear your schedule from November 8 to 17 and get yourself festival fit for the 5th year of the Central Coast’s award-winning The Lakes Festival.
It’s set to make a huge splash all over the Central Coast with more than 20 free events across 10 event hubs, including Memorial Park and Picnic Point Reserve at The Entrance, the Canton Beach foreshores at Toukley, Budgewoi, Norah Head, Gosford, Long Jetty, Killcare, Terrigal and The Peninsula.
The full program is still under wraps, but there is literally something for everyone with sporting sessions, family fun, cultural activities, educational events, food and wine festivities, and of course, some incredible live music.
Keep an eye out here for the program, but in the meantime, here’s a sneak preview of some of the highlights we’ll certainly be marking in our diary.
Light up the Lake – November 9
There’s no better way to kick off the 2019 festival than with a spectacular night of food, entertainment and live music set against the magnificent backdrop of our lakes area. The night will culminate in a brilliant fireworks display, that’s guaranteed to – you guessed it – light up the lake! Learn more about this event here.
Australian Beach Netball – November 9
Could there be a more Australian combination than beach and netball? Well, it is netball but not as you know it; with the rules combining netball, basketball, volleyball and football. And it’s making its Central Coast debut at Terrigal for The Lakes Festival. Form a team of 5 and register, or just come along and watch. It’s sure to be a great day in the sun.
SUP Yoga – November 15
How’s your balance? And your sense of humour? As the name suggests SUP Yoga is yoga – on a paddleboard. You don’t need any experience with either, the boards are anchored in waist deep water, and we’re assured it’s not as hard as it looks! It does look like a recipe for laughs though. This is a free event, but tickets are required. Get yours here then get your Downward Dog trained for this Gosford Waterfront event.
This stunning event is now part of The Lakes Festival and is an incredible way to discover the natural beauty of the Central Coast. The 14km and 21km trail runs, starting from Killcare, present a great combination of smooth trails, sand running, rocky terrain, cliff top trails and hills, plus there are cliff top views of the unique Marine Park. Register your spot on the start line now.
Budgewoi Festival – November 16
One of the major highlights of 2018, the Budgewoi Festival is back for another brilliant day out for all the family. Sit back and enjoy the entertainment on the main stage, sample some local food stalls, or go for a wander and enjoy the roving entertainers. Keep an eye out for program details here.
Clambake Cabaret – November 16
If you like your entertainment a little on the naughty side, book your tickets now for Clambake. After a sold out 2018 show, the Naughty Noodle Fun Haus is back at the Everglades Country Club, Woy Woy, for another deep dive into the underbelly of Cabaret. We guarantee an exquisite platter of oddities, including comedy, drag, burlesque and cabaret. Plus anything else we can dish up! This is definitely an 18+ event, and you’re invited to come dressed for an underwater fantasy. Get your tickets here.
If there’s a headline act for The Lakes Festival, then it has to be the Lighthouse Festival. Staged at the historic Norah Head Lighthouse, this one-day boutique festival is the perfect combination of mini food and wine fair, and laid-back music festival. And the headline act for our headline act is one of Australia’s festival favourites, Xavier Rudd. He’ll be joined by Central Coast rock reggae legends, The Sea Gypsies, with more acts to be announced soon. Book your tickets – and your gourmet picnic hampers – now.
And that’s just for starters! There are over a dozen more events still to be announced. It really is an incredible way to discover everything the Central Coast has to offer. And for help planning a visit to the Central Coast for any of our Lakes Festival events, go to the website now.
