NSW Bike Week is a state-wide NSW Government initiative that raises the profile of cycling as a healthy, easy, low cost and environmentally friendly alternative to driving for short trips in your local community. NSW Bike Week provides an opportunity for the local community to participate in organised bicycle events in a safe and supported environment. Participation is aimed at all members of the community, with a particular emphasis on encouraging new cyclists.

The key objectives of NSW Bike Week are to:
RAISE the profile of the use of bicycles for short local trips.
ENCOURAGE all local community members to participate in organised NSW Bike Week events.
PROMOTE safe cycling and the use of shared bicycle/ pedestrian facilities.
CREATE community awareness of NSW Bike Week and associated RTA and NSW government cycling initiatives.

NSW Bike Week runs from Saturday 15 September 2012 to Sunday 23 September 2012

Main Activities:
14 Sept – FRI: FREE Film Festival (Cycling Related Movies)
@ Avoca Beach Picture Theatre 7.00-10.30pm (PG rating event)
Presented by a Host Cycling Celebrity Mike Tomalaris
With canapés and drinks! Prizes to be won!
Bookings essential.

15 Sept – SAT: FREE Safe Cycling Course @CC Lifetime Learning Centre, Palmdale

16 Sept – SUN: -- “ -- Adults 9am-12pm Kids 1-4pm (Both days)

16 Sept – SUN: FREE Hot Lap Fun 8am – 10am @ Adcock Park Velodrome
Test your speed on the track! (Bring your own bike and ride onto the Fair!)

16 Sept – SUN: FREE Bicycle Fair (10am-2pm)
Waterfront Gosford
(Bicycle Retailers + Promotional Stalls for Q&As)
Supported by BUG Cyclists + Volunteers

19 Sept – WED: FREE Basic Bike Maintenance Workshop (Adults)
10am – 11.30am @ Kincumber Library

22 Sept – SAT: Mountain Bike Ride “King of Kincumber Mountain” Challenge …including a
“Introduction to Mountain Biking” Family Ride. Prizes to be won.
Hosted by Kincumber Hotel & CC Ourimbah MTB Club.

23 Sept – SUN: FREE Guided Family Pool to Pool Social Coffee Ride
-from Gosford Olympic Pool, Gosford to Peninsula Leisure Centre, Woy Woy

Events will be developed to capture those community members who may not be actively cycling and to raise awareness of this healthy and environmentally friendly mode of transport and to encourage behaviour change.

The concentration for Bike Week will be on the last weekend with events on – FRI/SUN. Cycling will be promoted for the whole of the week with TV and Radio advertisements on NBN and Star104.5FM.
