“Like them or love them, oysters are making a comeback!”
The Brisbane Water Oyster Festival was established in 2000 by the Peninsula Chamber of Commerce to showcase the beautiful waterways of the Woy Woy Peninsula and our largest primary industry, the oyster farming industry.
Held annually at Ettalong Beach, the festival's success means this year it will be held over two days at two different locations in Ettalong. The main event continues on the Sunday, November 13, at the Ettalong Waterfront. The additional day will be held on the Saturday prior, November 12 at the Mediterranean inspired Ettalong Market/Cinema Paradiso complex.
On Sunday visitors will enjoy Wayne Cornell & the All Stars Big Band plus on both days a plethora of musicians, dancers, amusements, and animal rides will entertain. The festival supports Cancer Council NSW with the Oyster Queen and Charity Queen presented on stage on Sunday.
Captain “Long John” will raise funds for Gosford Hospital with the chance to win a fantastic “seafaring” prize. The popular oyster and prawn eating competitions, the woodchop, treasure hunt and tug-of-war contests will all offer more great prizes!
The theme of “all things marine” will echo throughout the mix of art/craft, retail, and corporate stalls. Oyster stalls return and restaurant stalls will cook sensational cuisine on the spot, to enjoy with Hunter wines and cold ales. Seafood Cooking Demonstrations will teach you culinary skills and handy hints! Learn about this Central Coast primary industry with talks on Oyster and Pearl cultivation; enjoy a day by the seaside and some serious seafood!
